Update on Monday's events

Posted 06-21-2007 at 06:28 AM by Alisaura
The suspect turned himself into the police late yesterday afternoon. I am relieved.
The police knew who they were looking for on Monday - it seems this guy has a history of violent behaviour. He is a Hell's Angel, and while I know it's a stereotype that bikies are violent thugs, this guy seems to embody that stereotype. I have heard rumours that he turned himself in because the Hell's Angels have effectively turned their backs on him, told him they wouldn't help him (good for them), and have...

Shooting in Melbourne

Posted 06-17-2007 at 08:01 PM by Alisaura
http://www.theage.com.au/news/nation...018971854.html

That happened right outside where I work, an hour or two ago. Fortunately for me, I don't start until 10am and was still at home at the time, and my work has told me not to come in until it's safe. One of my co-workers didn't get in before they locked the building down, so she's stuck in a McDonalds with a mass of other trapped people.

This is frightening. Apologies to my friends...

What happens when I go shopping in U2 mode...

Posted 03-31-2007 at 09:55 AM by Alisaura
I went out today with the goal of finding the March issue of Q, which apparently has LOADS of U2 stuff in it, but which I had yet to see in a newsagent.
The newsagent didn't have the March issue, of course, but I got the February issue, which I hadn't been able to find in February (you'd think a newsagent in a suburb called Clayton would be better at stocking U2 stuff ). While I was out, I thought I might as well see if I could find the Boston DVD, since it's been about 5 years since...

And finally, an even-more-rambling account of 19 Nov. 2006

Posted 01-29-2007 at 07:49 AM by Alisaura
(Originally posted to Livejournal on 31 December 2006)
(Again, this is just a very long-winded, incoherent torrent of my subjective experience... I've left out all the boring stuff about waiting in the queue all day, and I apologise in advance for a truly criminal abuse of the words "awesome", "incredible" and "amazing". In my defence, I wrote this post in a marathon effort from about 4pm to 8am the next morning.)

A belated and rambling account of 18 November 2006

Posted 01-12-2007 at 11:13 PM by Alisaura
I posted this in my LiveJournal, and reproduce it here for the sake of a back-up, and this being a slightly more appropriate place for it. Keep in mind that I wrote this for LJ where most of the people who would read it aren't U2 fans.

Sorry it's so long... but I don't think these journals have a "cut" option the way LJ does.

And incidentally, this isn't a review of the concert. It would be utterly impossible for me to be objective about those shows....

Two years already?!

Posted 12-01-2006 at 08:04 AM by Alisaura
I can't believe it's been 2 years since I wrote in here. And it must have been 2 years also since I looked at Feedback until this week, and also 2 years since HTDAAB came out.

Yes, I've gotten used to the silly too-long title now. And it is better than ATYCLB, although it's no Achtung Baby.

And also, I clearly still have my subscription to Interference... although this is mostly due to me forgetting it existed until the money came out of my account. *L* I can't say...

Still album-less

Posted 11-24-2004 at 05:49 AM by Alisaura
Didn't get album for birthday...*L* Should I wait on Christmas or just go and buy the darn thing?
New tyres + big car service + rent + usual Christmas spending = me waiting on Christmas, methinks. A girl at work told me it was good... Better than ATYCLB. This gives me hope, but I can wait another few weeks.
Did "getting to know you" training at work today... *L* Quite a few ppl put down "U2" as their favourite band... good to know. One person even...

Vertigo

Posted 11-02-2004 at 04:23 AM by Alisaura
I still think it sounds a lot like Elevation.

*waits for the album as a birthday present*

As far as shortening the acronym (HTDAAB), I think I'd favour "HT" rather than "AB"...

Someone needs to write a book for U2... "How to give an album a catchy name"... they seem to have lost the knack.

Album title... WTF?!

Posted 09-15-2004 at 07:49 AM by Alisaura
In 2000 it was ATYCLB

Now we have HTDAAB.

It all makes me say, WTF?? By which I mean, Where's The Frog??

Oops, sorry. I mean, What The Fuck?!

No one reads this, so I won't elaborate on my feelings. But seriously, That Does It. They've lost their minds. I still badly want to meet U2, but now I just want to smack them all on the head and try to beat some SENSE into them. They have totally lost touch with reality. Give me a fucking BREAK,...

wow

Posted 07-27-2004 at 12:14 AM by Alisaura
Well, I've popped by after one of my trademark disappearances. I dunno why I started this AND a LiveJournal... I oughta just put a link to my LJ in here and leave it at that.

Mind you, I haven't updated the LJ for a good long while either... but it was more recently than October last year. *RE*

Attenborough, Pt. III

Posted 11-01-2003 at 02:30 AM by Alisaura
Well, it’s about a week and half after the event, I guess it’s about time I wrote it all down so I remember it for more than a few weeks.

I tend to just go through things like this and try to remember everything in order, so you’ll have to put up with a lot of inconsequential trivia and boring stuff – I’ll try to keep it to a minimum.

I wound up not working that Tuesday (21 October), but I probably should have, since it would have avoided the problematic “What to...

Attenborough II

Posted 10-20-2003 at 10:50 AM by Alisaura
Well, since I was idiotic enough to post that last entry twice (thanks to my unstable connection), I may as well write some more that I forgot and make it ten entries for real.
And only four more after that and I might have enough entries to scrape in at the bottom of that "Most Entries" top 100 list Whee!

The question an answer session has me in a quandry... should I try to think of a question? What on earth would I ask him? Most of the stock-standard...

David Attenborough

Posted 10-20-2003 at 10:27 AM by Alisaura
I haven't felt this kind of hyped-up anticipation for ages... There was the John Farnham "Last Time" tour in April or May, and the Chili Peppers and Tool a year or two ago... I've seen Mr Farnham four times now, and I used to be a rabid, frothing drooling fan, when I was a teenager. I went to see him this year for nostalgia as much as anything else, and I wasn't NEARLY as hyped-up for that as I had been five or six years ago, the last time I saw him. (I'd actually forgotten what...

Perceptions

Posted 10-17-2003 at 09:40 AM by Alisaura
First and foremost, I owe an apology to Rob, who runs the online Mokole game, a game which I had referred to earlier as "abortive"... which is not really true at all. A tad slow for me to get involved in, but certainly alive and kicking. Sorry mate. :-D
I've played my first official session too... and it was fun. Yay for Mokole!
'Course, I was a tad distracted by David Attenborough on TV, but I'll get to that in another entry, I think.

This job at the...

CD Update

Posted 10-04-2003 at 12:14 PM by Alisaura
Well bugger me, I made it to the end of Joshua Tree.

Mmmmmm, Exit.

But now it's sleepy-time... 2:15am. And the ppl I wanted to talk to aren't around, curse their slimy hides. And I haven't written anything, but at least I caught up with some ppl on the Anne McCaffrey site.

Goodnight!
