Spending spree :shifty:

Posted 10-10-2008 at 06:48 PM by DrTeeth
My first vacation this year and I'm using it to spend some cash. So far I've bought a notebook plus wireless router and a couple of cd's. I loves my new notebook, it sure beats the 800 MHz desktop I've had since 2000. Vista isn't that bad either, though it sucks that the HP people install so much crap on it that I don't want (Norton ) but I guess I can't blame Vista for that. Oh, and I finally have enough space on my drive for a Linux dualboot.

So yeah, that's enough...

The Mist

Posted 05-26-2008 at 06:11 AM by DrTeeth
Borrowed the dvd from a friend of mine, and as expected, it featured every cliché in the book. Though in Stephen King's defence, he wrote the story somewhere in the early eighties when it was probably all very fresh.

For those of you who are not in the know, the story is about a guy who gets trapped with his son and a bunch of other people in a supermarket surrounded by a mysterious mist that harbours weird murderous creatures.

Every possible cliché was used:

Women :grumpy:

Posted 04-24-2008 at 02:56 PM by DrTeeth
So, in the last couple of weeks, I've been browsing this dating site and so far, it's not going according to plan. I'm not exactly a Casanova, so I didn't expect women to swamp my inbox, but I did expect a bit more than the few replies that I got. I also expected women to actually read my profile (if you're an atheist who likes women aged 25 to 30-something without kids, it's a bit weird if you get a response from a 45 year old passionate Christian with three children).

Anyway,...

Cuyahoga

Posted 12-10-2007 at 06:28 AM by DrTeeth
I got the The Cure: Festival 2005 DVD last week, which prompted me to fiddle around with the settings on my DVD player (turned out it had the wrong video mode, so it didn't show every DVD in colour). So this weekend, I seized the opportunity to watch another DVD in colour for the first time; the R.E.M. Live double CD/DVD!!

Oh man, what an amazing performance! Cuyahoga is without a doubt one of the best songs of the entire show. I hadn't heard the song before and I'm not really a big...

Crisis averted

Posted 09-05-2007 at 06:49 PM by DrTeeth
My favourite record store moved to a different location and they forgot to tell me their new address. Luckily someone at work knew where it went, but it really was a close call. I'd lost my record store for an entire 6 hours! What if I had to make an emergency purchase?

It's irresponsible, that's what it is

People catering to my every need

Posted 06-12-2007 at 08:33 AM by DrTeeth
There aren't enough of those

How dare my profs make other appointments in the month I'm trying to graduate? Don't they know how important this is? My teachers are supposed to show up and stand in line every time I snap my fingers, but nooooo, they expect me to make an appointment with them and go to their offices. :singletear:

What the hell's wrong with education today? I blame the free market, though I don't know why yet...

Nick Cave (& The Bad Seeds)

Posted 06-03-2006 at 04:15 AM by DrTeeth
Is this guy a genius or what?

I'm listening to volume III of the B-sides & Rarities box set, and this blows most regular albums right out of the water. I have to admit I could never really get into his pre-Let love In stuff, but every single thing he did after that is a masterpiece.

I wonder what his spoken word stuff is like.

Time for an update

Posted 08-21-2005 at 05:31 PM by DrTeeth
Well, it's been a while since I wrote my first and only entry. Almost 8 months ago, so needless to say, I seem to be more devoted to it than I expected. Well, lots of things happened since then, neither of which are very important in the grande scheme of things so I won't bother you lot with it.

I'll be going back to university in a week or two and that kinda freaks me out. I was getting used to the easy life of having a job with plenty of money and spare time. Seriously, I...

Antics in the train

Posted 12-24-2004 at 05:18 AM by DrTeeth
Well, while I am here at interference, I might as well indulge myself in the act of self adoration that’s called ‘having a journal’. Not that I feel my experiences are interesting for people to read, but I recall writing down your thoughts can be very liberating. I had a diary once when I was studying in Finland. In Dutch the word diary roughly translates into ‘day book’, because you’re supposed to write in it every day I guess, which in my case swiftly became a ‘week book’, after...
