Russell Peters

Posted 03-16-2007 at 10:53 AM by ladywithspinninghead
Woohoo, I just found out Russell Peters is coming to Toronto in June and tickets are going on sale TOMORROW! This is perfect - my boyfriend and I both love him and the show is to take place a week before his birthday. I know what I'm getting him for a gift!

(some of you know him so I trust you'll keep it a secret )

I bought him the "Outsourced" Cd for Xmas and he can't stop listening to it on his ipod...

This is truly...

Why didn't someone tell me about this show earlier?!?
Okay, okay, I've heard mumblings about it but never did I imagine it would be this good!....or addictive.

I had to work a couple of 12 hour overnight shifts and to keep me distracted during the quiet times I decided to rent Season 1 of this show and watch it straight through. Of course, they were rented out at every outlet I went to and had to settle for Season 3. I started from Volume 1, Season 3 and have been watching...

Windsor Pilates to the rescue (I hope)

Posted 01-07-2007 at 01:01 PM by ladywithspinninghead
Before Christmas, I went to a silent auction at my work and someone was selling a whole set of Windsor Pilates tapes for $10! Since I do tapes at home when the rare urge to exercise hits, I decided to give these a try. I've done different pilates throughout the years but I've heard hers are the best from a few people now.

I haven't worked out in 8 months and I think it's starting to show - I've lost most of my tone. I rarely had the energy with my health problems and I eat at...

They're finally going to be recognized as a nation!

Posted 11-23-2006 at 11:35 AM by ladywithspinninghead
I hope anyway - I'm crossing my fingers this is a good thing! Finally Harper does something I like!
I used to espouse Trudeau's vision of Canada but since moving out East, working in Quebec and spending lots of time with Quebecois at my current employment I can finally understand why Trudeau's way would have never been embraced (which is a shame for me because I'm a French-Canadian who lives outside of Quebec so we were some of the first to benefit from Trudeau's policies). It was too...

One of the scariest days of my life....

Posted 11-03-2006 at 03:58 PM by ladywithspinninghead
So yesterday, because I had a fever and a cough I went down to the local drugstore to stock up on meds when I actually passed out while purchasing my items! The pharmacist said I passed out once (fell to the floor but the cashier was holding me so I didn't hit my head) woke up, my eyes rolled back and I fainted again. Alarm bells went off when my eyes rolled back (could be a seizure which is usually indicative of something quite serious) so the pharmacist called the ambulance. Once we arrived at...

I HATE the overnight shift!

Posted 10-31-2006 at 04:52 PM by ladywithspinninghead
Sometimes circumstances dictate the need for someone to work the overnight shift at my job and this week I've been tasked to work the ungodly hours
And not just from Mon-Fri but 7 days straight with the last 2 days being 12 hour shifts!

I HATE it, HATE it, HATE it!!

I'm so groggy (and cranky! haha) the entire week.
I read those on the overnight shift miss the equivalent of 8 hours of sleep. Yikes!!

By the time my body gets used to...

Off to Montreal for the weekend...

Posted 10-27-2006 at 11:44 PM by ladywithspinninghead
So I'm sitting at my computer, biding my time until my bf arrives from Toronto.
Any minute now!

Tomorrow we're off to Montreal to do some shopping, then maybe eat a smoked meat sandwich or two before heading off to see the Montreal Canadiens take on the Toronto Maple Leafs!!
Hopefully the Canadiens will make smoked meat out of the Leafs!

I'm a diehard Habs fan but have never seen them play before
I'm very fortunate that...

Can animals (cats in this case) catch human illnesses?

Posted 10-17-2006 at 11:34 AM by ladywithspinninghead
Hmm, how bizarre! I woke up with the 24 hour stomach flu on Saturday morning, vomitting for a few hours, feeling weak the rest of the day and fine by Sunday.
And this morning, I awake to the sound of my cat vomitting everywhere as well! Sometimes she'll throw up liquid (a nervous tummy the vet said) but this morning she was throwing up actual food (well, partially digested food!). I tried to google this but didn't find an adequate response....

By the way, my former catsitter's...

I'm bored already

Posted 10-03-2006 at 12:07 PM by ladywithspinninghead
So I worked this past weekend + Monday which means I have the entire week off

Except I'm bored already....

I still don't have much energy as a result of the detox I'm on so shopping, working out, studying, etc are out of the question.

Still not sure if I'm going to Toronto this weekend as I may not even have a catsitter

I would need to return Sunday afternoon anyway as one of my best friend's will be in town that day (Canadian...

Detox die-off

Posted 10-01-2006 at 08:15 PM by ladywithspinninghead
Oh my word I feel horrible....I have no energy and I feel like I'm going to collapse and never wake up!

At someone's urgings, I'm trying something new for my tummy - it's a probiotic - something I've been recommended periodically for a few years now.

I started it last Monday and within days of taking it I felt lethargic and all the symptoms I sometimes endure had not only returned but they had actually worsened!

I did some research and it turns out I'm...

I don't know what to do about my needy cat....

Posted 09-29-2006 at 04:43 PM by ladywithspinninghead
So I've had this wonderful, emotionally needy siamese cat for over 2 years now. We've given each other lots of love and affection during our time together.

In the past year and some since I started seeing my bf who lives in T.O. (4 hours away), I've had to get a catsitter the days/weekends I do go down there. Usually I will leave my place fri. morning, go to work, go straight to T.O. and return Sunday evening.
I thought it was reasonable to get a catsitter on the saturdays...

Finally some time off...

Posted 09-25-2006 at 11:34 PM by ladywithspinninghead
So just finished 7 days, 64 hours of work...am quite beat!
But the good thing with my current shift work is all the time off - I have the next 5 days off, work the weekend then get 6 days off. Plus I get paid overtime! I really can't complain....
And how many people can actually say they love their job??

With this shift work, I work long hours, long weeks and then usually head down to Toronto to see the bf so I rarely find the time or energy now to write in my journal...

Turns out I wasn't paranoid after all!

Posted 09-23-2006 at 12:23 AM by ladywithspinninghead
So something was up last night - I felt strange, awkward and really uncomfortable with the two situations I described below.

Anyway, turns out I wasn't paranoid and perhaps my intuition was telling me something because someone was MURDERED on a bus at around the same time I was on one (but a few miles from where I was).

What the hell's happening to O-town?? 3 murders in one week - unprecedented!

Time to buy some mace?

Guys: Pls don't walk within 15ft behind a woman after dark!

Posted 09-22-2006 at 12:50 AM by ladywithspinninghead
Geez, what's wrong with some men?!?

First of all, some sleezy guy whose alcoholic breath I could smell a mile away, attempts to chat me up on the bus (!) while I'm reading the newspaper on the way home. I don't even recall what he said but I was very rude when I said "Can't you see I'm reading?". He then lamented incessantly to his buddy about the rejection men constantly have to suffer!
PLEASE!! You go on buses at 11:30pm to hit on women?!?
Women...
