South Beach D again

Posted 08-15-2008 at 01:07 PM by drumkeeran
Well, I might as well use this blog to get my ass in gear and take a bit off. I haven't been walking my 4 miles a day since school let out in June and the lbs have been creeping on a bit. I've got another high school reunion coming up in October.

So time for another sugar detox and South Beach success.

Starting off at 130.

Bono and I read RS simultaneously

Posted 08-06-2008 at 12:28 PM by drumkeeran
As I sat down for my Sunday coffee, I opened up my latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine and flipped to the back section which reviewed the remastered discs. (I have yet to purchase the discs, since I'm just waiting until I have a moment to myself and head to a little mom/pop shop locally). Anyways, I opened up my daily @u2 digest this morning and there's a note from Bono to RS dated 3 August 2008. Just had to write about the cosmic connection . I've also been cleaning...

Finally U23D

Posted 02-28-2008 at 01:18 PM by drumkeeran
Finally saw it with the family - I guess in RealD. I thought it would be in the IMAX theatre but it had the Spiderwick Chronicles. I was disappointed in the theatre's sound, not being loud enough in some spots. My kids were a bit overwhelmed, all three fell asleep at some point during the 80 minutes- overloaded by the visual and hearing senses. Great reason why I haven't spent over $500 to take the entire family to a U2 concert.

Comments included..."they're (the band) all...

u23d vs hannah montana

Posted 02-14-2008 at 08:33 AM by drumkeeran
Our local opening date for U23D has been shifted back one week due to the success of the Hannah Montana 3D concert. My ten year old daughter is ticked!!!!

Mom, this is just another reason why I don't like Hannah Montana!

My kids have been waiting to see this movie with as much anticipation as I have with the real thing. Guess I must've done something right

My baby boy is turning 13

Posted 02-06-2008 at 09:28 AM by drumkeeran
...and I don't feel old.

Being a parent is really fun at times. My oldest son turns 13 on Saturday and wants a really big boy/girl party, but doesn't know who to invite. We'll probably wait until our schedule slows down a bit (could be next year ).

We have a family movie outing scheduled for the U23D opening in our hometown next week. I can't wait for my kids to experience why "mom is crazy". They've been looking forward to this movie for...

I'm due for an entry

Posted 12-31-2007 at 11:50 AM by drumkeeran
Way too long since the last entry.

We concentrated on our immediate family this year, as the years are flying by and our children keep getting bigger. We put our eldest son into a private school, so far the transition and decision is positive. Budgetary constraints, in place. My daughter and youngest son will continue in public school and I'm still very active in both schools.

I received a very unexpected Christmas present from my husband, a brand new car. My 1999...

quite interesting

Posted 08-17-2007 at 11:33 AM by drumkeeran
Didn't work... anyways I took this okcupid political test and I wound up being in the same box as MLK, Gandhi, Bono and Hillary. Economic and social liberal...goodness hope I can afford my taxes to pay for this view.

my pants are falling off

Posted 10-26-2006 at 11:39 AM by drumkeeran
literally, down around my ankles. I feel like Tara Reid.

As my surgery swelling begins to disappear, my waistline is also disappearing.

I have to be a bit careful, because the surgery garment which I have on doesn't really let me feel that my slacks have dropped. My middle is still quite numb.

I think I might be tiny again... my body will match the picture in my mind.

For those who faint

Posted 10-20-2006 at 01:33 PM by drumkeeran
Be very careful of major surgery .

I am now sitting up, trying to eat normally and on manageable pain meds. all you who can manage to take vicodin God bless your highness. It just doesn't agree with me.

So I guess I will begin: Monday morning the kids went to school by bus...Mom went in for a little nip/tuck...

It felt pretty cool with the surgeon measuring and drawing all his guides on my body. "This is where your nipples...

surgery notes...too!

Posted 10-13-2006 at 09:31 AM by drumkeeran
Monday I will have a mastopexy and a full tummy tuck I'm a little anxious about recovery, but more about my husband taking advantage of my absence in the daily housework and throwing every mess out!!

So...I'm running around like a cleaning whirling dervish.

No more flubby tummy !!!!! Maybe I'll take up belly dancing

Walking therapy

Posted 09-29-2006 at 01:36 PM by drumkeeran
Following on bradyvox's running journal theme...

- walked each week day for the past two weeks at least 4 miles each day. Some indoors, some outdoors in varied terrain, but all at Mrs.Edge-type walking speed .

PLUS - (therapist told me to talk about this publicly and you all count) - I cleaned out my laundry room shoe/coat closet. Threw out three bags of junk (including shoes) and have two bags to donate. Yee haw!! had Zoo DVD on to inspire me.

quick Paris note

Posted 08-01-2006 at 11:51 AM by drumkeeran
Got to our hotel at 8:30 am after our overnight flight to CDG, able to check in despite early hour. Showered and decided to get some breakfast before we checked out the Tour route. Our taxi driver had said we would be able to see the Tour at 11 am. Stupid tourons!! Of course, this was only the time that they started to set up along the Rue de Rivoli, Place de la Concorde and Champs Elysee :duh:. We walked around a bit, the temp was already in the low 90s. Seats and tents set up along the course...

So, I'm going to Paris...

Posted 06-26-2006 at 11:17 AM by drumkeeran
For my 100th entry I decided to post something spectacular.

I haven't traveled overseas in 14 years, since my honeymoon to Ireland (two weeks of glorious sunshine). But my husband and I will travel to Paris for about a week in July.

I've already started to plan what I will pack, since I'm determined to only carry on my bag. I've only checked out one site for travel tips, but I've already discovered not to go to the place my sister in-law recommended - Montmartre -...

WARNING: Domestic Entry

Posted 01-31-2006 at 10:42 AM by drumkeeran
I got a Dyson!!!!!

In the midst of not being able to breathe Sunday, my husband said yes to my suggestion of getting a Dyson Animal! I'd heard and read that they couldn't be beat for vacuuming up animal hair and dander.

I headed to Linens 'N Things with a trusty coupon that didn't exclude the brand and wound up with a great deal. My oldest put it together in about 5 minutes and started vacuuming !! "mom, this is so much fun, look at all the dirt and...
