I stumbled upon some information on a pastor named Steve Gray, who calls out churches--mega and otherwise--who are way too culturally driven. You know the ones...they offer coffee bars, have 'so hip it hurts' pastors, and offer more 'fluff' than giving God's starving people what they really need: the meat of the Gospel. It's day 10 of this cold from hell, and I am finally feeling well enough to venture outside this afternoon to meet some friends for dinner. Of course I won't be able to taste any of that dinner, but still, I'm just happy to get out of the house!

Got home yesterday from yet another whirlwind adventure back home in Wisconsin. Very happy to get back to 'normal' and especially to see my kitties again! At least (and at last!) it is for me - I fly home to Milwaukee in 2 days and I can't wait! The temperatures are coooool, the leaves have started changing, and I haven't been home to witness a real Fall since I moved to Dallas over 20 years ago. We're still wearing shorts down here!

It's less than 2 inches long, and there it sits, defying gravity. We have these little guys here in Texas, tho' I've seen them a lot larger. I think Bluey would have a field day if she got ahold of this guy! (she's my bug killer)

Kept hearing this odd noise last night just as I was headed for bed (nearly 3 AM).

It wasn't a mourning dove but what was it??? Finally it dawned on me: it was an owl! So cool!



The backside of my building abuts a very forested area, so I'm sure that's where it was. Sure would love to have actually seen it out there. I will be listening again tonight...wonder if Edge...
