Every year I attend a local library conference on Long Island, and I enter several raffles held by various library associations. Last year I won a lovely wicker basket with a "Pop Culture" theme; it had things like "Seinfeld" and "Simpsons" box sets. I hadn't known I won until I walked into the library the next day and found the basket on a desk in my department, and was told "Diane, it's yours."

I was surfing around the Internets this evening, when I got the urge to listen to "Window in the Skies." While I was listening, I started daydreaming about coming face-to-face with Bono, finally, and just saying, "Thank you. For everything." I imagined myself crying.

It's been a mild winter on Long Island, but we did have some white stuff on Friday. The library was closed, but my part-time Rite Aid job was open. Okay. So I went in, and when I got home about 10:30 pm I slipped on ice in my driveway and fell.

I went to the library the next day, but felt worse and worse as the day went on. My co-workers urged me to get checked out, so I went to a doctor and was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain. I got a note excusing me from work Sunday. Monday I felt...

Yesterday was my birthday, and no one started a thread for me. I always looked forward to seeing these in the past, and am a little disappointed that I didn't have one this year.

Then again, you must be a friend to have a friend, and I've been sort of AWOL from here for a while...most of my online time is on Second Life these days.

When the album is out and the tour is going on, I'm sure I will be around more often!!!

I haven't spent much time on Interference for a year or so now. Part of it is that U2 hasn't done all that much; I'm sure I'll be visiting more often when the new album is out and the tour is in full swing. Another reason is that I've gotten very involved with the virtual world Second Life, where I truly DO have a "second life."

I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my journal about Pugsley. The people at Interference are truly good and it is wonderful to be a part of this place. Thank you.

I'll miss the little guy forever and I am glad that I have so many wonderful memories to get me through the rest of my life without him. When I have the money, I want to make a photo book about his life: "Pugsley and Us: Life and Love with the World's Best Dog". There are Internet companies...

My sister's pug, Pugsley, my favorite creature in the world, died today of pancreatitis. He was 9 years old.

I am devastated.

They are together now, my Puggleman and my brother Jimmy. Jimmy died of pancreatitis 11 years old. Pugsley and Jimmy, together...

Today was a big birthday for me, and it was one of the very best of my life. I went to lunch with one group of co-workers and out for drinks with another after the library closed down. Lunch was especially special because I was surprised to see a favorite person of mine, who is on maternity leave from the library (she's due next month and barely showing!), so to me, that is the best present I could have gotten! Drinks tonight were fun too--I was good (just wine and chicken fingers), but lots of...

My last journal entry was written when I was extremely nervous about my car inspection...I thought the car would need lots of work to pass. And, as $$$ is an issue, I was a wreck. I was also waiting for a freelance check that had been delayed a bit.

Well...
...the inspection work came out to less than $200....far, FAR less than I'd anticipated
And...
...I got the check today, and as it was issued today, it doesn't count towards '06 earnings...which will lower...

My sister's pug, Pugsley, was recently diagosed with diabetes, and now needs daily insulin shots. And apparently, he is now going blind from a genetic disease that affects pugs. A vet that specializes in eye problems has been monitoring his situation for years, as he was at serious risk of this disease. But within the past couple of weeks, my sister has noticed that he does not seem to be able to see out of his right eye, and has been bumping into things, afraid of stairs, etc. She's taking him...
