I have NEVER said or insinuated any relationship with (RED) other than being a supporter of (RED). PLEASE don't put words in my mouth.

You would not like it if someone did that to you. Neither do I.

Thanks though for your ideas on the fair trade coffee (and the Starbucks idea) & thanks waynetravis for the Staples connection. (I agree - Staples RED does sound good.)

And thanks to all who will purchase a (RED) Father's Day or Graduation Card.

Sorry to hear that, Bono's Doll, and thank you for your concern about (RED).

The best thing that I can suggest that you do is to let the store manager know that you support (RED) and that you would like to see them stock MORE of the Hallmark (RED) products.

That is something that we all can do as consumers - speak up for the products that we support.

It might also be a good idea to BUY those four cards to let the manager know the depth of your support for (RED).

FYI - I have now contacted the "powers that be" at this website about the spate of personal comments about me that are being generated in this thread that are of a harassing and disparaging nature.

The posters which are engaging in this behavior toward me have already been contacted in the past by mods about their behavior and chastised about their behavior toward me in this thread's history - yet they continue in this behavior.

It's sad when posters in this forum do not even listen and co-operate with the mods.

Thanks to all those who were simply enjoying a pleasant conversation about (RED) and sharing their ideas about new products.

That is what this thread is all about and everything that was talked about in this thread was legitimate and harmed no one.

But some people would rather fight than co-operate. Some people care less about the success of (RED) in getting life-saving meds to the people in Africa who really need them than in trying to smear the name of someone who really cares.

This is simply wrong and detrimental to the success of (RED). When you really care about the success of an endeavor like (RED) you will put aside your personal likes & dislikes and "coexist" with others who support the same endeavor.

Please continue on with whatever discussion that you like in this thread but KEEP ME OUT OF IT.

I'll let the "powers that be" at this website handle the situation that I've reported to them this morning the best that they can.

The only people that ultimately end up being hurt by this type of cat-fighting by negative people are the people in Africa who need the AIDS meds that the Global Fund gives them.

And that definitely wouldn't be pleasing to the co-founder of (RED).

Ok so I just happened to come in here and read this thread, (I have not received an email to the 'powers that be') and I'm actually a bit confused. I don't really see anything really harassing or attacking here. What I see is someone that asked a simple question:

and then I saw Jamila get quite upset at this person for asking this question. Jamila, in all honesty and from someone who does not hang out in here on a daily basis, reading this thread I think the nature of your posts in this thread do sort of give off the impression that you might work for (RED) or have some sort of affiliation with them. I'm not really sure why you got so upset at this person. I don't think there is any harm in someone simply asking if this is so, then you say no, and we move on. But yet for some reason we always have problems in this thread. Perhaps you could word your posts differently so they do not give off that impression. Being supportive of the products is great and this thread is the place to do it, but I really don't understand why this thread seems to generate arguments every now and then.

I don't want to see any personal attacks or rude comments towards Jamila or anyone else in this thread. This thread should be to enjoy and discuss the (RED) products, not put down other people. The best thing for everyone would be to ignore those posters that you have a problem with.

Thanks JCOSTER, I was beginning to think I was losing my marbles there Well I seem to have stirrred up a hornets nest with this one. All I can say is that it was a perfectly genuine question in the first place and all I was expecting was an answer on the lines of yes I do work with (RED) on x,y,z or either no I'm just a supporter but hey I'd love to work for (RED), (wouldn't we all, imagine getting paid to work with Bono) so I was a bit taken aback at the hostility of Jamila's response to mine but hey I'll get over it - as someone earlier said in the spirit of (RED) lets move on...

PS just seen Sicy's post, thanks

^I wasn't aware that it was against the rules to express frusturation to a post. It wasn't my intention to attack anyone, so I apologize if I came off that way.

I'm not saying its 'against the rules' per se but posting smilies like and and without any text just seems antagonizing to me and is not going to help the situation in this thread at all.

Faith Hill is the latest performer to be featured in Hallmark’s (PRODUCT) RED Cards with Sound. The selection of cards feature five of Hill’s songs, such as “This Kiss” and “Breathe” and are now available at Hallmark Gold Crown Stores® nationwide.

The purchase of one card results in a contribution equivalent to a single-dose treatment used to reduce the risk of transmission of HIV from mother to child during childbirth.

Ziggy Sees Red

a few months ago i attended a red cross charity event. i was seated with a few people, one of them being mr. bobby shriver. we were introduced and i was told he was involved in a campaign called product red that donates money to fight aids in africa. obviously, i was very interested as africa is a priority for us. right away i said to myself i must say something to him before i leave. i was interested in giving my support in whatever way i could to a cause such as this. not for any other reason but to be of service.

after outbidding the ladies from the tv show greys anatomy for a case of wine ( the money goes to charity ), taking pictures, listening to honorees speak, which was very good because all of them were local heroes like firemen, doctors and public servants, it was time to leave. on the way out i stopped at mr. shrivers'chair and told him i was very interested to be of service to this cause. he seemed happy to hear that. we exchanged numbers and said goodbye. about two weeks ago we met at his office in santa monica, california. i know i had heard and saw the red campaign before, the actor chris rock and a few more celebrities were promoting it at the time. however, i really didnt know the depths of it.

as we entered his office we saw some of the red products being dispalyed, t- shirts, sneakers, hallmark cards etc. cool, i thought. we then met mr. shriver and the red team. it was a relaxed atmosphere, just my kind of vibe, everyone was cool. after a little get to know eachother talk he started explaining the concept and idea of product red. how much they made, how it is distributed, the people that have been helped, etc. the more i heard and understood the more confident i felt that this product red thing was for real and not just another publicity stunt or ego trip.

my thoughts now went to how i could help to spread this. anything for africa. i asked some questions and we reasoned on for a little while. the red team was very open and asked if we had any ideas. already, no pretense , no protocol, no corporate hurdles, no contracts, no b.s. we had become a part of the team in a very organic way. i had no reservation in giving ideas and speaking freely and felt a real spirit of community, of people who are in it for the right reasons. nice.

one of the ideas we shared was to try and bring the awareness of product red to a grass root level. kind of like what i'm doing right now. people spreading the message through more than the established methods. getting the awareness of product red to the masses. i offered my concerts as one of the platforms that could be used, and told them the first thing i was going to do was put a link for product red on my website. every little helps.

everyone was happy to hear and see this enthusiasm to participate and we continued to exchange ideas for a few more minutes. the meeting ended well and we said goodbye. i felt really good about everything. we accomplished something positive. there was no exchange of money, no photo ops, no press. just the act of taking a step to help people in any way we can is something accomplished. making yourself available to give service to a cause such as this is spiritually uplifting and rewarding.

so check it out. their website is (RED)

Does anyone know if (RED) has any annual reports available online?

Most of the questions that people ask in this thread about (RED) can be easily found on their website.

But since everytime I try to be helpful and answer a question that someone asks I am flamed by someone else, I will try to empower you to find the answers to your own questions.

there is not one annual report for Red, and in fact, it is a bit challenging to find the information in just one place. Obviously, every corporation involved donates different percentages, and some have been involved in the campaign longer than others--so earnings vary radically.

Check here for some preliminary information on contributions:

(PRODUCT)RED…Again! The Business Philanthropy Coach - Susan Hyatt

The author points out the there could be a bit more transparency in showing collective contributions, and having them all in one place. I agree.
