So, if a friend of mine stayed in North Philly, they'd come away from their stay thinking that Philly was an amazing city? Please.

It's a city, like NYC, and each has their good and bad areas. You stayed in a not so great area (why you stayed there is beyond me), so, of course you're going to walk away unimpressed. But let's not pretend like one could not have the exact same experience in myriad areas of Philadelphia.

I've been in the other parts plenty of times and have not been wowed. I don't know what it is.

I have a couple of friends named Blair and Serena that live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

I have visited them many times.

BTW - Jayson Stark is reporting that the Tigers are trying to offload Gary Sheffield and Edgar Renteria in hopes of landing some starting pitching, relief pitching, or an everyday shortstop for next season.

Ollie Perez is pitching lights out. but he's so damn unreliable that you never know when he's gonna totally shit the bed and last a third of an inning like he did in San Fran. I still get nervous every time he pitches.

but seriously, he made the Philly batters look downright foolish.
