ironic, isn't it? how the phillies had a 7.5 game lead and are now a game behind the mets?

not the same as what happened last september, obviously... but nice none the less.

under rick peterson, yes.

but ever since peterson got fired and warthen was hired, perez has changed a few things... most notably he's pitching from the middle of the rubber instead of the far edge like he used to... and ever since he made that change he's been absolutely lights out.

The only times I've seen him pitch, it's been when he's on. He's got great great stuff, and he's still really fucking young.

Saw Hanley Ramirez play in person for the first time last night...that cat might be the best player in the NL.

OK Jerry Remy just gave me a near-heart attack...Big Papi is back and he's got "RIP 45" on his batting helmet. And Remy mentions it, and the next words to pass his lips are "Pedro Martinez". Turns out it's not actually Pedro, but Pedro's dad who passed. RIP.

I don't think Joba was trying to hit Youk in the head in a 1-0 game, but, I do think he was trying to buzz him high and inside and that's scary shit sometimes....I hope Joba stops doing this crap, though, cos he's gonna get one of his hitters killed and the Yanks/Sox rivalry needs no more fuel added.

After all those years of Pedro head-hunting, it's odd to be on the other end of it.

Other than me winning a decent chunk of change on a prop bet (hits+runs+RBI, Johnny Damon over Jac-0-by Ellsbury), tonight's game sucked.

I enjoyed it, though.

Joba had some help from a fucked up strike zone, but, he looked pretty decent.

Yanks get Nady and Marte without giving up too much.....I'm pleased....wanted a smaller type deal, nothing huge......

Todd Jones is a fat fuck and I would burn down all of Chicago if I wasn't afraid of messing up the filming of Batman 3.

Went down to CBP tonight for the Phils-Braves.

Three shitty performances in a row I've seen in person. Way to go, Phillies.

Chase Utley's never looked worse, by the way. He's forgotten how to swing. He looks like Ryan Howard up there, honest to God.

Coincidentally, the two of them got their first hits of the game tonight only after they went down 8.

Stop going to the games, dammit. It's obviously all your fault

Agreed. I was actually quite surprised that they didn't let Beckett come out and hit a guy in retaliation. He was obviously done for the night, so it wouldn't have mattered.

Don't know what Joba has against Youk, but if it happens again, you know he's going after him.

That strike zone was indeed fucked up. You don't see someone like Mike Lowell get that pissed off in a game.

Those things aside though, Joba was on the money last night. He deserved the win.

OK this Manny business is finally starting to piss me off. It never really bugged me before, but now...and the worst part is I don't even know who to be pissed at. You've got Manny being Manny on the one hand, and the front office spin machine/smear campaign gearing up on the other. Then smack in the mddle of it all you've got smirking Robby Cano who I can't stand just kicking Boston's ass all day long. This sucks.

At least Hansen hit ARod, so there's that anyway.
