Dr. Who,
The Boxscores are not estimates but exact figures from Amusement business. I'll go back and add up the first 29 shows to see if I made a mistake. I could also post the first 29 shows statistics. The information is from Amusement Business which is later printed in Billboard. Billboard probably made a mistake with 95. I have the stats for 69 of the 93 shows. To get the totals, I had to rely on total printed at various times on the Amusement business website during the tour. Between the shows I had and the totals they printed at various points during the tour, I was able to obtain the exact figures. I'll also post a list that shows every show. If see something missing tell me, but I think its correct. |

I'm going to put up the 69 POPMART shows that I have exact statistics for, and I'll also put up the other 24 shows that I don't have stats for, but have maybe an unconfirmed estimate. Again, I was able to get totals for each leg of the tour when I was missing shows because Amusement Business printed the totals. I'll first do the first leg of the Tour for which I have all 29 shows. 1ST LEG POPMART:

The Totals for the Entire 93 date POPMART TOUR are GROSS: $171,677,024 ATTENDANCE: 3,935,936 AVERAGE GROSS: $1,845,989.5 AVERAGE ATTENDANCE: 42,322
I have exact statistics for 71 of the 93 POPMART shows. I was able to come up with the totals for each leg of the tour and the entire tour itself because those figures were printed by Amusement Business back in 97-98.(Amusementbusiness.com) I searched through all the information I have and could not find a 94th or a 95th show. Billboard gets its tour info and BOXSCORES from Amusement Business so it may have been a missprint by Billboard. |

POPMART is either #3 or #4 WORLDWIDE. The problem is that I don't have the international stats for the Rolling Stones 89-90 Steel Wheels Tour. That tour did around 90 million in the States but outside the USA I do not have any figures. They did visit and play Stadiums in all the major markets so I think it is close. Of course, Vadoo Lounge and Bridges To Babylon by the Stones are #1 and #2.

Bump again, as there were some questions about statistics. To give this post at least some relevance, here is another statistic. A year after its release ATYCLB has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

STING: I saw your unconfirmed info about the Popmartshow in Gothenburg, Sweden. The info from the stadium says it was 48006 persons and how you count the gross I don't know but if it helps the price for the tickets were at 1997 exchange rate US$43 (todays rate would make it $35) for all tickets in the stadium.
Thanks for all the info, just one question, how much was U2's profit of Popmart, for Zoo TV it was 3 million but for Popmart? |
