No, but he's only 4 months. The vet said we should be fine till he's 6 months.

They're all insane like that. I swear that litter boxes around here stay clean for maybe 30 seconds before someone gets in to do their business and stinks it up again. It used to be particularly frustrating with Kitty when she was pregnant and stinky. Within seconds, she'd be in it. I used to think she was saving it on purpose. Then I learned to scoop, hang back with the scoop and bag for a minute, and then rescoop. Hah! Take THAT, kitties.

Last night was the first time I've ever had any of them go in an empty box, though.

Mine do that too, like they all want to pee first. I don't doubt they'd come pee in an empty box!

When Posh was a kitten she never covered her poop and it smelled sooooo bad! We'd always have to go in behind her and cover it. She slowly figured it out.

Last night, we had some errands to run, so we decided to take two of the kittens that have never been out of the house with us. what should have taken maybe 30 - 45 minutes ended up taking well over two hours, but they were SO good! And we got to show them off.

Also...last night when I was changing the litter boxes, I'd just dumped one and was about to refill it with clean litter when Jack jumped into it and peed...in the empty box. Wtf, Jack??
It was *the box*!

At this point, the kittens remind me of human toddlers who are overly fascinated (and impressed) with their excrement. Every time I scoop or empty their boxes, they swarm me, climb into the boxes, etc, and just generally make the job more difficult than it has to be.

Last night, I took the empty box into the bathroom, and poured Jack's pee into the toilet and flushed it. He followed me in to watch.

My cats seriously wait for me to finish cleaning the box and put new litter and its a race to see which one gets to go in it first

N00b question #267:
I mentioned before that Mofo has chewing issues, so I took the advice I got here and tried keeping him occupied with toys, cat grass, etc. but he still has a seriously neurotic obsession with chewing AND eating anything that dangles. I bought him a few catnip mice which he LOVES, but he chewed the tails off all of them He has no interest in chewing anything else, not even power cords, just dangly things. Any idea what that's all about or how to deter it? Beyond being slightly annoying, I'm concerned about what he might be ingesting..

Kaf, I'm sure others will have better suggestions than I have, but is there any way possible that for now, you could just put away anything that dangles, till he gets out of this stage?

Also, I found the most awesome toy a couple of weeks ago at a buck store, of all places. It has a plastic thing that fits over any door handle, and sticks out away from the door, with an elastic hanging off it, and a toy mouse at the end of the elastic. My guys loved it, and played with it constantly for a day and a half till it finally broke (but for a buck, it lasted longer than I thought it would!). That might satisfy his need for something dangly to play with. I'm going to go back to the store and buy the rest of what they have.

Also, not sure if I mentioned this before, but mine also love to play with/chew on plastic drinking straws. They seem to be the right texture for them to enjoy chewing.

I know I am an over protective worrying cat mom, but I have to say that these types of toys make me nervous and I feel that they are a hazard.

Saki almost choked himself to death on something like this when he was younger. He managed to get himself wrapped up in the string/elastic and it was a good thing I was home so I could free him from it. The same thing happened to a friend of mine once when they were asleep.. her cat got the elastic wrapped around her neck and and of course, they struggle when that happens and she ended up making it worse. My friend had a hell of a time trying to calm her down enough to get the elastic off. Another time I had a very short dangling thing that was hanging from one of my kitchen drawers, and Saki somehow managed to get his paw wrapped around it and he let out the craziest noises I've ever heard, it sounded like a feral cat fight in my kitchen! Worst part was I was on the pot at the time and I damn near killed myself trying to get out of the bathroom and to go see what was going on. Well when I got there he was just laying there with is paw up still wrapped in this elastic like he had just given up. I felt so bad for him. So after those ordeals I dont have anymore hanging, dangling, toys of any kind. Not to mention if they ingest them, they can easily become blocked and need surgery to remove the foreign objects. He gets feathers on a stick, toy mice, round puffy balls that he loves to chase, the laser light, and those plastic things with the ball that goes round and round. I have Da Bird which is a cool toy, but the string is thin and long so I only play with it when I am there to supervise

Good to know, thanks for the warning! I'm really glad Saki was okay, too. That's awful.

Fortunately, the way things are now, we're always around when the toy is on the door, so we're there to supervise, but honestly, I probably wouldn't have even thought of the potential for danger when they get older and I feel more comfortable about leaving them alone. On this one, the elastic string is *very* thin, and that's the first thing that broke on it, but I'm sure it could still do some damage if they got caught in it the wrong way. Also, the toy mouse had some very small plastic eyes that I took off of it before I let them play with it, figuring that since it was so cheap that they would probably come off easily.

Thanks again! I'll definitely only let them play with it when I'm right there, now.

Aww toes !!

I can see her little lump. Most cats don't have much hair there anyway, so I dont think its because of the lump.
