Having had many cats over the years, I have to say that they have been divided pretty evenly as to whether they hide or are "sociable." Both Callie and Fergus are "people cats." They both stay around--Fergus has to put his nose on everyone until he decides whether they are okay. Callie is usually pretty indifferent, except for one of MrPurrl's friends, Lonnie--she is on his lap from the time he comes into the house until he leaves! ![]()

My dearly departed cats, Max and China, *loved* company. China, particularly loved people and seeing the kids at Halloween (she was a black cat, after all!)
The 4 cats in our house now seem to be fine with people -- mainly treat it like it's just another day. Smokey is our gun-shy guy, he spends a lot of time sleeping in my closet! However, it seems like the two older cats especially hate the doorbell. If it rings, they run. (If one rings on TV, they run, too! ![]() ) |

My cats sound like mad1's. Every cat is different and ever cat has a different personality. That's why they are each so special in their own way
![]() Saki immediately runs under the bed if a stranger comes over. But only a stranger. He knows when its someone familiar, even before they knock on the door Then if it sounds like, I am getting along with that person, he will come out. If its someone coming to do work in the apartment, he wont come out. Zoey doesnt care, she will greet anyone with a head bonk to the leg, then she will follow them in, and if they have a purse, she will rub all over it and molest it ![]()

Mine show off for visitors and act like psychos, chasing balls, jumping at things, attacking scratching posts, chasing each other, trying to climb the curtains
.... They're a bit shy at first, but usually come to investigate (Biscuit will sometimes do a quick circuit around the perimeter of the room before running out). |

Will is up in everyone's business. He's a leg rubber.
Roscoe hides at first. He'll come out once he has surveyed the scene. He'll stand next to you and arch his back and nudge your hand until you pet him. He stays away from people who don't like cats. Somehow he can tell ![]() Meezer is the most shy. If he wants someone's attention, he'll stand in the next room and make chipping noises. ![]()

Maurice is not shy at all. I think I have mentioned here before the time he freaked out the plumber who was lying on his back with his head under the kitchen sink, and Maurice climbed on his lap and started making himself comfy

overload!!!Otto tends to run away from company/visitors. Depends on his mood. My niece will usually try & go right up to him and/or pick him up, but he sometimes hisses first & then runs away. I think they got off to a bad start upon first meeting, and he remembers her when she visits annually.

aww cuddly cats! love the cat stories! Our Miep usually hides when there's too many people around, but when I have a friend over, she goes into flirt mode and makes sure whenever they sit down she's on their laps.. and she KNOWS when there's a cat hater she goes after the person, cuddly an' all! evil little bastard!

Lily runs and hides if kids come over. We have a few in the family that are here a lot and she does not like them. But adults is another story. She likes to be in the middle of the action so she usually will stick around. She'll let the visitor pet her but just a quick little tap, anything too much and she runs away. The dog is seriously the exact same way but a little worse with strangers. Lily and Roxy usually don't spend time together except when the kids are here. We've found them under the beds huddle up together.
I have pics of the last visit. I'll have to post those.
