Otto is not a lap cat
But depending on his mood and if hubby is sitting or napping on the couch, he'll cuddle up with ya It rarely happens for me, but I love when it does!

Not quite -- Murphy has his summer buzz cut and may outweigh Smokey by a couple of pounds. We call them the "Gray Boys" -- the other two are the "Alpha Boys."

Me annoying Phoebe from up close:

She's started staying on the bed with me for a while at night (but still usually ends up sleeping under the bed), but she is not even close to being a lap cat yet. I maintain hope she will grow to like sitting with me.

But now, while she'll let me pick her up and hold her for a minute or two, as soon as I try and sit down while holding her, she is scrambling to get away. It's so weird.

all three of mine do not like it if you pick them up and try to sit them in your lap but they will sit on my lap depending where I am.

Sid will sit on my lap while I watch TV - he started doing this when he was a kitten.

Both Nip and Sherman will climb in my lap if I'm on the computer.

All of mine will sit on my lap. Beckham is most likely to sit right next to me, against my legs, or sit along the back of the couch on my shoulder. Posh will sit on my shoulder or the arm of the couch. Neither like to be picked up or restrained, but they are cuddly on their own terms. Marijke thinks she can sit ON me wherever and whenever she damn well pleases! Sometimes I have to literally throw her off. Like I enjoy it when she does a huge dump in the litter box and then comes and sits right on my face smelling ever so fresh.... Sometimes she will get on my lap, reach up and wrap her front paws around my neck and cling on like a little monkey. She loves to be held and carried. On her back, against my chest...doesn't matter to her.

Speak of the devil....

Awww, cute pictures and stories, everyone!

Most of mine are very affectionate. Even the one I mentioned being shy about a month or so ago has come around, and wants attention now. All of them do climb up on our laps occasionally, but mostly they prefer to lie either beside us, or beside us with their heads on our laps, and get petted that way. Zoey is the most likely to get on our laps, but once she does, she's all fidgety, and shifts every 10 second, like she can't get comfortable. Kitty climbs up on us quite a bit, but mostly when the kittens are in their room. Jack wants to be held all the time, but mostly when we're standing up. He comes up to us and stands on his back legs with his front paws on our legs meowing till we pick him up. He'd let us carry him around for hours, but as soon as we sit he jumps down.

Jack's new thing is, he thinks it's his god-given right to come into the bathroom with us. All the kittens like to whenever they're given the chance, they seem to be fascinated with water, but with Jack, every time we head up the stairs, he hears us and races up, and scoots in the bathroom door. I used to try to stop him, but I've essentially given in now, and I no longer get private bathroom time. Sigh.

Private bathroom time I'm trying to remember what that is. If I shut the door there are 3 or 4 cat paws shooting underneath the door.

There is something about cats named Jack. My Jack doesn't think - he HAS! the god-given right to everything.
Including the raw chicken skin I was removing tonight. The phone rang and Jack got in the sink and got a piece of the skin. I thought it was paper when I walked bye him. Then I knew, and literally pulled it from his throat.

It won't kill him will it?
He's going to be the death of me first, probably.
(but I love him )

Phoebe LOVES the toilet. Whenever I flush it, she's right there, staring at the swirling water. And then she streeeeetches a paw as far as she can, trying to get at the water.

I tell Fergus that he must be a Pisces or Aquarius, because he always wants to be where there's water--the sink, the bathtub, but thankfully not the toilet!

Usually, neither he nor Callie will stay where they are picked up and placed, almost like, "I didn't put myself here, so I'm not gonna stay here!" I love those little hooligans!

I was cleaning up my room the other day with Lily following my every move. I put her up on the top shelf to see what she would do. She was NOT happy. I saw a lot of teeth and claws flying at me. It took over 20 minutes to get her down. She wouldn't jump or let me help her out so I got a chair from the dining room for her to jump on since it wouldn't be as far. I would have gladly lifted her out of the shelf if she wasn't so pissed off at me. I thought she was going to murder me once she got down. I'll never do that again!

We have 2 kids in the family that have been over a lot latey. They're 5 and 7 and neither of our girls like the kids. Roxy and Lily never hang out like this unless the kids are here.

This is Lily from a few minutes ago. I put all of my work stuff in the corner of my room last week and ever since then she's been obsessed with hanging out by everything.
