My cat (Ricky) is a drunk and your cat's a hooker -- they'd make a lovely pair! ![]() |

Thinking about getting a new kitty. Every cat I've ever had has died pretty young though(4-8 years old). Maybe we'll go to the SPCA this weekend, just to look (yeah, right). It's nice not to have a litter box to clean or the corners of the couch scratched up but I miss having another little critter in the house. And my son (4.5 yrs old) still talks about our kitty who "had to go live with the doctor because she was too sick". He misses her.

How can you see if a bird is still alive?
I swear, Miep keeps surprising me... she hasn't caught anything in years, as a little cat she could only sometimes catch a mouse or something, but maybe one or tw birds... and I was sitting in the garden reading the paper, heard a squeel, she acted suspicious... yep, little bird in the mouth... I caught her and made her drop the bird, trapped her inside, but I fear the little guy is already dead ![]() How do you check of they still breathe and such? I put it on a place the cats in the neighbourhood won't find it cause they can't smell it there, but I'm afraid it's dead but I want to be certain..

No. They were all indoor cats but one had persistent urinary tract issues and her system finally just failed. They other two, the doctors never figured out what was wrong - they just stopped eating (not at the same time - 2 years apart). Our only outdoor cat got lost shortly after we moved. Bad luck with kitties but the more I think about it, the more I want another one.

My DD decided at 10:00 Tuesday night to rearrange her bedroom, meaning we did a lot of heavy lifting (bed, treadmill, armoire).
Jack definitely thinks he needs to "help" while we're doing this -- the other cats skedaddle! He's now discovered the treadmill and likes to lay on it. I wonder if we could get him to walk on it if we turned it on slowly ... he's the last of the cats that would *need* a workout though! |

. Then when I was in junior high, my friends cat had kittens and we took one. We had Mouse for two years and then something happened to his lungs (vet said it was an undiagnosed birth defect). So really bad luck, until Worf. She'll be 15 in October ![]() |

If you get a cat from a reputable shelter or rescue, one that has tested negative for FIV, Fel Leuk, and parasites, I think you should go for it when you are ready! Speaking of cat health and age....an acquaintance on another board had a mouser cat that lived to be 23 and died because a wild animal attacked him. He was in good health and excellent body condition at his last vet check and was being fed a raw diet. I wonder how long he would have lived if he hadn't been attacked... |
