I love box kittehs. Especially when the box is just a little too small.

Ugh, Posh and Becks are getting FAT! I'm cutting back on their food, so now they are HOWLING for dinner even earlier and still howling after because they want MORE. It's so hot and humid, they just aren't very active. They rotate between my bed, their cat tree, and the dinning room floor all day and night.

OK so maybe she's not AS fat as this pose makes her look, but they both still could stand to lose a pound or two!

How much do you all feed your cats? Right now they've been getting no more than 1/2 cup of food per day total. This week it's been more like 1/3 total (I have a 1/4 cup scoop and give them less than a full scoop). The foods I use do not contain any corn, wheat, soy, glutens, or by-product and the first two ingredients must be a meat source (third is usually a rice followed by more meats).

Saki only gets 1/2 cup of dry food a day and he's sorta chunky.

we would feed wee one twice a day, with half-handful of dry with spoonful of wet.

the bigger one is having brekkie and tiny tiny bit of supper to get the weight off and its slowly working.

so she would get quarter dry and one small of wet and thats it.

Since I switched my cats to Natural Balance it seems like they've gotten fatter. Well, Meezer hasn't but Will and Roscoe have. Will's coat has never been softer though. They get a 1/2 cup per the instructions on the bag based on weight. For a while I was feeding Meezer separately b/c he still has that street cat "oh my god food I have to eat it all right now and no, no one else can have any oh crap I ate too much I'm going to puke" mentality. It's gotten a better though.

Our Callie also has that "eat everything in the bowl, no matter how much" thing going on, even after living with us for over three years. I think it was from her previous life as a stray? So she gets just a little about once an hour, which makes it difficult to have anyone else feed her! Fergus (whom we have had for two years) still gets whatever he wants, whenever he wants, so we have to feed him behind a closed door--and he's getting a bit chunky.

I adore the double tuck, too! I also like when they are sitting on their haunches, front feet together, with their tail curled around to the front of their paws. We call it "the pretty sit."

I'll switch back then. I'm using NB at the moment actually. I have a few foods I will use and get whatever's on sale: Natural Balance, Eagle Pack Holistic, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. Their coats seem fine on any of these and no digestive issues so I'll try the EP Holistic again and feed less.

I need to do something about the whole feeding issue too, and I have no idea what to do. These guys eat a crazy amount of food each week - I'm currently going through approx. 12+ pounds of food per week. I'm free feeding, because I don't see any way possible to make sure that each of seven cats are getting their share when feeding smaller meals. Besides that, I seem to have a litter of mutant kittens - most of them are HUGE. Skinny tux (that name's certainly a misnomer now) and the two tabby boys are the biggest, Jack and Abby are in the middle, and Zoey is smaller-framed. Last time they were at the vet 6 weeks ago (they just turned 5 months the other day), Jack and Abby were each 6 lbs and Zoey was 5. I'm sure the other three were at least 7 lbs or over. Since then, each of them have gained well over a pound since then.

Then there's Kitty. When she first went to the vet, she was approx. the size she was when we first took her in, in January, maybe a tad bigger, at 9 lbs. She was still quite slim, though. Within a month after she was fixed, she'd put on a pound, and it was visible. I mentioned it to the vet, and she said it was no big deal. I also said that she's still eating kitten food, and how it's impossible to keep her out of the kitten's food. She said that she should be fine on it till the kittens are old enough to go on adult food. Since that visit, she's gained even more weight. I'm sure she's too heavy now, especially since I think her normal body type is on the petite, slim side. I've heard that spaying and neutering slows down metabolism considerably.

Adorable pictures, everyone! Zuropa, looks like your new addition is making herself right at home. Indra, what a gorgeous family you have!

VP, I have a lot less cats than you and had the luxury of getting them one at a time, but I feed a set amount twice a day. The cats eat it all, so there's no one cat leaving half and the other cat eating his AND hers. They each have their own dish and all the dishes are a different color AND texture (Beckham has a tin bowl, Marijke a clear glass bowl, and Posh a red plastic lid). They get fed in the same order every time, so they each run to their own dish and wait. Right now they are all getting a little less than 1/4 a cup, an easy amount for them to eat at once without barfing from being overstuffed.

Can you maybe start ration feeding and split them into a few rooms while being fed, so they figure out which dish is theirs? It took Marijke about 3 days to figure out which dish was hers and that she had to wait for hers to be filled and not grab out of Beckham's.

We have 4 cats -- 2 seniors (Neo, a sleek black panther kitteh, half siamese; and Murphy, a Maine Coon). Murphy is chunky. I'm not sure what they weigh. I think Murphy is in the 18-19 lb. range.

Now .... my two baby boys, Jack and Smokey. They are 18 months old. Jack weighs 14.5 pounds, Smokey weighs 17.4 pounds!! (he is a bowling ball).

The old boys get a quarter of a small can of wet catfood each in the morning (and the babies aren't interested, thank goodness). We free-feed hard food in the kitchen (where the old boys' bowls are) and in our bathroom (for the little guys). I stopped feeding kitten food at a year old. The old guys will come in and eat the little guys' food, only Jack will eat the big guys' hard food. My daughter owns the 2 elder cats, so we decided we're buying the same food and be done with it.

That said, they still eat out of each others' bowls like they think they're doing something big. I *will* let the little guys' bowl empty and not feed them until later. We'll probably have to start mixing a "light" hard food in with the "multi-cat household" food.
