Pacific Ocean Blue is sounding fucking brilliant. It's not perfect, a few tracks remind me of 70's Beach Boys elements that I didn't like so much, but "Time" is just amazing.

Not sure if you're asking just to post the older song, or if you really don't know.
Not a cover. I checked out the album to see if it would be one of those dumb pop things I like, but it's awful.

I really didn't know. I don't listen to pop radio very often, and avoid MTV like the plague.

Kate Perry is like a sluttier version of Lily Allen.
I don't mind her.

Didn't she put out her debut album as a Christian artists a few years ago? Apparently that didn't work, so now she's going to go for the shock value.
Kissing girls! OMG!

I can't decide if I like or dislike the Hercules and Love Affair album yet. Listening to it all at once seems really repetitive and bores me. Listening to a few songs here and there is great though. We shall see.

Nobody likes talking about music in a random fashion anymore?
![]() I listened to Abbey Road tonight for the first time since last summer. Still pretty damn awesome. It's all about that second half for me (for those with the vinyl, that's Here Comes The Sun--->Her Majesty), which I consider the greatest half of any album, ever. The first half isn't too shabby either, but Maxwell and Octopus' Garden aren't anything all that special, and I Want You, while positively groovy, is about a minute too long. The other three (Come Together, Something, Oh! Darling) are classics, and anyone who disputes this fails at life. Play Something on an acoustic guitar sometime. That song features one of the greatest chord progressions ever written. So beautiful. The second half though....wow. If you hate Here Comes The Sun you are a cruel, heartless bastard of the coldest sort. Because is gorgeous. You Never Give Me Your Money is top 10 in general for the band IMO, and the medley is the fruit reaped from one of the smartest production decisions ever made. It's an absolute thrill in parts, and Golden Slumbers--->Carry That Weight--->The End is the grandest trio ever assembled on a rock album. Hell, I even love Her Majesty. Amazing. I sometimes wonder if this is my favorite record of all time, as OK Computer is more consistently strong from front to back, and Abbey Road can't match the gorgeous atmosphere of The Joshua Tree, but it the Beatles' most playful and best produced record, which has to count for something. I'll have to think on this.

Abbey Road is the greatest, and my personal favorite, Beatles album.
And I agree with you completely on the second half. The power of the "medley" or whatever you want to call it is undeniable. This is in my top 10 albums of all time. Ever. In the history of life. |

The indietastic pick for best Beatles album is always Revolver. I don't really have a problem with that personally, because Revolver is absolutely cracking, but the lack of coherence that album has hurts it for me. It's just a bunch of songs. Thankfully, those songs are all great, so my complaints are nil. I just prefer Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, and others.
