My only problem with that one is that, although the songs are great, the dialog interludes are not. And they are tacked on to the end of the songs (i.e. not separate tracks).

Aretha Franklin - Never Loved A Man The Way That I Love You
I haven't heard the full album, but I have a great chunk of it on the Queen Of Soul boxset. Essential stuff!

I still can't seem to slow down my buying habits, as there's still so much of that wonderful ear candy out there. But yeah, I do think that I'm not giving newly acquired albums as much attention as they deserve. I need more time to listen to music.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way

REM - Lifes Rich Pageant

The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico

(corrected The Velvet Underground & Nico on your list BTW)

Elton John - Tumbleweed Collection
Love - Forever Changes
Queen - Queen II
These are also quite high on my list of classic albums to buy.

Queen - A Kind of Magic
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
Somehow I'm not really interested in buying these. I have Stadium Arcadium on MP3, but I rarely listen to it. It's a bit too generic (and might have been a really good single album if they left half of it off).

Personally, I think Gorillaz' debut album is pretty lousy. It's extremely scattered (more so than Demon Days) and I can't think of too many tracks I would come back to, but it has its moments. I guess if you started out with Demon Days and loved it, it's worth a shot.

Agreed 100%

As for Massive Attack, definitely get Mezzanine. Most of it is And have you heard the song Protection featuring Tracey Thorn?

Looking at your list LM, I think you might get the biggest kick out of The Chronic and Straight Outta Compton.

Those are two undeniable and classic hip-hop albums.

Wow you are gonna have a good time with this. Although I would suggest busting into the entire Pearl Jam and R.E.M. catalogues instead of just these selected few...

I didn't forget Angel. I mentioned it in the post that popmofo initially responded to.

I'm actually already doing R.E.M.'s entire catalogue, I just hadn't put it there. I'm doing it in order, actually. I've done the first three so far.

Pearl Jam ... I can't see why not doing all of it unless I really dislike it (can't see that).

Half the time when people ask me what I'm listening to, I don't know what to respond to as there are so many things it takes me a while to even figure out what I have been listening to. Regardless, I am quite impressed with the musical and movie goals you and Philly seem to create for yourselves. I think there was an old "Music goals" thread a few years back, maybe I'll dig that up some time soon.
Most definitely. I'm gonna hitch on their musical odysseys, if I can.

I sent Pfan his movie list, actually. I'll probably mention this every time the list is brought up, because I'm an egotistical little bastard.
