Listening to Dark Side of the Moon for the first time was a revelation....I thought I had just been let in on the big secret of the universe.

Now I think it's just a pretty good album.

What did you think of Dark Side on the first listen or have you even gotten to it yet?

For some reason, I could never really get into Dark Side of the Moon as a whole album though I love the individual songs.

While I always felt Eric A was the least integral part of the band (and was ably replaced by Flea on the reunion tours), the Strays album was uneventful and maybe we can partially blame that on his absence.

Doesn't look like this is going to be a permanent reunion, oh well.

On this RollingStone list at #30 out of 45 pages, they have an awesome HALF-HOUR "sample" of Flosstradamus.

It's about 1/3 of the way down the page where it says "Play This". I thought it was just going to be a minute or so, but it's at 19 minutes and only 1/2 way through.

Stubb's Bar-B-Q Austin Capacity: 2,200 Adventurous booking (Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Wilco and Arcade Fire have hit the stage), killer barbecue and a massive PA all contribute to the party vibe that makes Stubb's the coolest outdoor club in America.

That's pretty cool, but I think they're severely overrating it.

Malkmus played La Zona Rosa and Cat Power was scheduled to play Stubb's that same night (last Sunday). I had tickets for Cat Power and now it has been bumped back to October 11.

Fuck.

Absolutely love it. My favorite of the five or six I've listened to already.

Pink Floyd is good at what they do ... however, I'll always prefer artists like U2, Springsteen, and Bowie, who let emotion take them somewhere I've yet to hear Pink Floyd go. That's the one thing that lacks in Pink Floyd's work, to me: a passion that takes the songs to climaxes and powerful endings.

except for Joe Jackson's Rain which I will buy some day

still don't feel like I'm missing out on anything though
