I'm just starting to learn how to play guitar and I was attempting to play Miracle Drug but there was something in the tab I didn't understand.

What am I suppose to do for the parentheses and the 7/9 If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

parentheses usually means harmonics, but i don't think Edge plays any. the 7/9 means you hold down the string and slide from the 7th fret to the 9th while keeping it ringing

I think in this case the parentheses mean optional note.

Oh and instead of sliding, you can also hammer to learn it.
