Old Post 04-25-2008 03:47 PM - i think it's dead, jim...
so this morning i was using my laptop just fine.
right in the middle of copying and pasting some info into an email, my mouse locked up.
i didn't think much of it, computers lock up all the time.
so i tried to reboot it...ctrl alt delete didn't work so i did a hard boot.
again not all that unusual.
after i rebooted, the message about doing a disck check came on.
this happens occassionally when i have to do a hard boot.
again nothing that unusual.
i try to 'hit any key' to cancel the scan.
i know, not something i should always do but i'm anxious to get back to my email.
i hit any key, but the scan continues.
it's at this point i realize that my keyboard might not be working either.
so i let it finish the scan, keeping fingers crossed.
it usually comes right back on.
log-in screen comes up.
whew, everything's fine, i think...
then i try to move the mousepad to login.
but it STILL won't move.
i start to get nervous...
reboot the computer several more times...
leave it turned off for a while and unplug everything.
reboot.
still nothing.
i even tried switching batteries.,
still nothing.
a few weeks ago i'd posted about the little melted spot on the laptop near the keyboard.
but it had been working fine up till this point.
any ideas?

Old Post 04-26-2008 12:52 PM -
well we took it to the repair shop this morning.
rono and i both tried numerous times to get it to work.
and unfortunately it looks like i've left my windowsxp cd in storage back in the US at my parents house.
it could be a week before they can diagnose it.
and queen's day holiday is this week too,
so shops are only open 2 days,
ah well.
