iTunes Help Requested

I have old versions of iTunes on both of my computers. The main computer that my songs are on & that I use to hook up my ipod is an old version, 6.0. I know I should probably update it, but I don't know if updating will cause any damage or problems. Anyone have any info???

I was reluctant to update mine also, but I finally did both my itunes and ipod and haven't had any problems.
