Okay guys, I need record player help...

I'm gonna stop putting it off and finally get one so I can listen to the few records that I have.

The question is... should I go with something basic like this that does it's job and is cheap?



Or should I get a turntable? But I know my stereo doesn't have any inputs whatsoever to connect to so I'll have to get an external speaker/amplifier(?)!




Or... should I go with something pretty and vintage looking?



I'm confused. On one hand I want something that I can connect and immediately start listening to without having to deal with buying external speakers, possible connection issues etc. On the other hand I want decent sound, not totally crappy. I don't know how the internal speakers are on the Fisher Price ones.

And it seems to be some kind of rare thing to find one these days... at least according to stories I read on the internet. So I figured it would be a cool collectible and also something I can use to finally listen to my records. But after yours and Gabe's posts now I'm not sure.

Dude, seriously. Fisher Price. They are for 5 year olds. I think that guy probably has some sort of nostalgia for them, they were a large part of people's childhoods in the 70's, but...that's probably the only appeal they hold. The one speaker would be so tiny and shitty and tinny sounding, I don't even want to think about it. :shudder:

If it's a self contained unit you're looking for, then option 3 would probably be infinitely better. It has a retro look, but maybe because they're made nowadays, they put better quality speakers into them? I don't know, I've never listened to anything like that, so I can't really say. I'm just judging by the way that self contained record players used to be, and the price.

What kind of stereo/receiver do you have that it doesn't have an input for a turntable?
